Breast Reduction Surgery in Preston

Breast Reduction Surgery in Preston

Breast Reduction Surgery, also known as “mammaplasty”, allows a surgeon to remove excess breast tissue, fat and skin from the breasts allowing for a smaller, lighter and improved or lifted appearance. Having large breasts can take its toll on the back and shoulders and cause pain and discomfort carrying around this additional weight.

Breast Reduction Surgery can be life changing and not only change appearance, but allow for a light hold across the body making daily activites so much easier.

Breast reduction surgery can help women who are unhappy with the shape, weight or droop of their breasts by making them smaller and more lifted.

Reduction breast patient

Meet out patient who recently underwent Breast Reduction Surgery at The First Trust Hospital in Preston, Lancashire with our expereinced breast specialist surgeon Mr Ashley Topps. During our first consultation with our patient, we learned that our patient had been considering breast reduction surgery for a very long time, and was struggling not only with the weight and the size of each breast, but also with the appearance of herself when wearing clothes and swimsuits etc.  Our patient was feeling down and unhappy with the size of her breasts and experienced pain and discomfort each day, when doing regular and simple tasks and could not join in with any physical activities. She was looking for a new self-image, a chest that could change her life and a wardrobe which she could embrace and enjoy.

The surgery went well, there was some swelling and pain initially, but with rest and care, our patient was able to heal quite nicely.
She is absolutely thrilled with her new chest, and has immediately found relief in her back and shoulders with a lighter, lifted pair of breasts.

Meet Geraldine – Our Breast Reduction Patient.

Meet Geraldine – Our Breast Reduction Patient.

Geraldine had spent many years considering a breast reduction and came to Red Rose Desire after a recommendation from a family friend who had already had surgery with us. At 62 years of age, Geraldine finally felt confident enough to kick
off her surgery journey and started the research to seek out the best company and surgeon for her.

Breast Reduction Surgery

Geraldine came along and met with Dr. Krishnan who talked through her surgery options, the procedure itself, her desires, her expectations, as well as her health and medical history. After seeing the surgeon and undertaking a number of discussions, Geraldine went ahead on the 19th of January with a Bilateral Breast Reduction at the private hospital in Wigan.

She says ‘I had no doubt about having the procedure once I had seen Mr. Krishnan, he was so very clear, detailing my procedure and options and any risks there could be. As you all know I’m very happy with the outcome”.

Age is but a number! Geraldine may have been a little older, but that didn’t stop her making this body changing decision that has gone on to change the way she lives her life and the way she looks and feels about her body. We know that surgery has
no limits by age, and risks associated can be present on many factors, but not age.

The success of your surgery is simple…find an experienced surgeon who will take time to get to know you and your expectations, someone who is credible, experienced and qualified. There may be some risks associated with surgery, in various factors, but one thing that has no limits when it comes to surgery is age, just as Geraldine proves!

Breast Reduction Surgery Patient Journey.

Breast Reduction Surgery Patient Journey.

I’d heard of Red Rose Desire Cosmetic Surgery through a few people I know who’d had other procedures done but had spent time researching and browsing their website and Instagram posts of other patient stories before booking a consultation with my chosen surgeon.

The whole team were supportive, helpful, and honest right from the beginning, from booking a consultation right through to my aftercare. All my questions were answered willingly, and the team were always responsive and never pushy, in fact they gave me time to decide and come to every decision myself. I was very satisfied with my consultations which allowed me to meet both my surgeon Mr Sharif and the aftercare head nurse Elaine multiple times, which was the main reason I felt at ease before my surgery! Mr Sharif  was brilliant every step of the way, always providing the relevant facts and being completely honest about realistic outcomes of surgery.

I wanted to stay relatively local and didn’t want to have to travel hours for consultations or procedures, which worked out easy because of all the different locations and the team always made sure the appointments were at a time which were convenient. I’ve been to three of the locations and all were easy to locate and to access!

Cost and aftercare were important to me. I had done a lot of research prior to booking consultations and the procedure, purely as Red Rose Desire Cosmetic Surgery provided one of the most competitive prices with everything included. There were no extra costs for aftercare, and this was attractive to me.

Recover was something I discussed in great detail during my consultations, as I wanted to ensure I was equipped with all the information. I was advised of many things I could do to prepare pre-surgery and how to keep myself and my new boobs well rested for best recovery post-surgery.

Nurse Elaine recommended bras and scar solutions that worked amazingly and always made herself available to discuss aftercare and recovery if it was needed – even if it was just to reassure me! The surgery has honestly changed my life. My boobs were such an insecurity of mine for as long as I can remember as I’d always had bigger boobs even as a younger teenager. I’ve had so many comments from close friends and family who say they can see on my face how much happier the surgery has made me. 100% the best decision I ever made & I would recommend Red Rose to anyone!

At Red Rose Desire, no patient’s cosmetic journey is ever the same; even if two people might be having the same surgery, with the same surgeon.

Every single person that walks into our consultation room has different needs, dreams and desires for their bodies and minds alike. Some will be having surgery for medical, physical reasons such as a breast reduction to relieve back pain or perhaps rhinoplasty to help with breathing difficulties, whilst others will be choosing to have a procedure to help them regain confidence in themselves aesthetically with a tummy tuck, breast uplift, liposuction, labiaplasty and more.

We aren’t a quick fix, in and out, type of cosmetic surgery business that aims to make everyone look the same, churning out patient after patient, with the same results for all. We work closely with you before, during and afterwards on your own personalised cosmetic surgery journey, ensuring that you are fully aware of all procedures, options available to you as an individual, as well as the physical and mental effects of your surgery in particular, and surgery in general too.

Initially, many will feel nervous, uneasy, sometimes even guilty about wanting surgery, other’s will be excited and want to rush straight in! We are experienced in dealing with people of all walks of life; ages, genders, and backgrounds, and are great believers that if you are looking at surgery options for the right reasons, then we can absolutely assist you from start to finish.

The ‘right’ reasons are of course subjective, but we always want to ensure that our clients aren’t looking for surgery because they feel pressured, feel they must look a certain way to fit in, to make someone else happy / jealous or to save a relationship. We work with people who feel that certain parts of their body are causing them to feel anxiety, stress, discomfort or in whole a lack of self-esteem and confidence. Patients that are looking to enhance their features, redefine and augment certain areas of their body so they feel more like themselves, physically and mentally.

We don’t want to make you someone you’re not, or think you should be, we want to help you be the person you really are!

When you come and see us, right from the very first enquiry you make, your journey with us will be as unique as you are. Every person’s body is completely distinctive and specific to them such as age, shape, size, collagen amounts, skin elasticity, skin type and a person’s health can all effect the choices and decisions of the surgeon. Surgery is not a one type fits all, there are many factors that must be considered by a surgeon in order for them to tailor a cosmetic strategy just for you.

Whatever your goal as a patient, we will work with you directly on a personalised plan to create your own individual journey; a journey that is initially lead by you, your body, your health, and hopes. Our highly skilled and experienced surgeons will listen to your aspirations and use their knowledge and expertise to achieve your aims in the best, safest way possible.

Always individual, always unique, always all about you, your body and of course, your mind.

Breast Surgery Consultation and Pricing

Breast Surgery Consultation and Pricing

Did you know that women around the world, from all cultures, nations and backgrounds, have been interested in breast enhancements for centuries, with the first one being attempted in the late 1800’s? It was of course a rocky start as surgeons, or the people performing any sort of breast enlargement didn’t have the science, the education, the products or the facilities that we have today. Even so, women were eager and willing to try anything for a more pert looking breast. From injecting paraffin that eventually went hard and lumpy to injecting extracted tissue from the stomach and buttocks, which eventually just absorbed into the body, it’s said that things such as animal cartilage and even wool were tried to enhance breasts. Unfortunately, most of these attempts failed, and many were fatal.

Breast Implant Surgery

This didn’t steer women away from the yearning for bigger, rounder, more shapely breasts though. The first silicone breast implant surgery was said to be performed in the 1961, closely followed by the first breast augmentation in 1962, with saline implants then being introduced in the mid 60’s in France. This obviously opened up a whole new era of safer cosmetic surgery, albeit not as common as it was today. It seems women were perhaps not as forthcoming with admitting surgery either. It’s still to this very day widely debated that Marilyn Monroe had breast enhancement surgery, something she always denied, yet many professionals have countered.

Seven decades on from that first silicone implant, millions of breast surgeries have been safely performed. We have come a very long way from those many initial dangerous and failed attempts to enlarge breasts in the late 1800’s. Hundreds of thousands of women, men and non-binary people enquire about breast surgery daily. Nowadays it isn’t just to enlarge either. You can add, downsize and reduce, reshape and augment all kind of breasts, you can even create breasts where there once were none.

As one of our most popular surgeries, we get 10’s – 100’s of enquiries and questions around breast surgery, weekly. Whether it’s for medical reasons, for transitioning reasons, or simply to help with low self-esteem and confidence, there really isn’t a one surgery fits all. Due to each and every individual having different reasons, different shapes, different sizes, different needs, it’s imperative that you get to speak to a surgeon, the one that would be performing your breast surgery, so they can expertly, medically assist and advise with your choice. You may want a breast enlargement, but the surgeon may actually suggest a breast uplift for instance, or perhaps you would like a breast enlargement, but when you meet the surgeon, it may be the case that your frame is too small for your desired size.

This is why, as standard, we offer completely free consultations with our surgeons. This is so you have the opportunity to meet the person who will be doing it, but also to gain invaluable advice from these highly skilled medical professionals.  It gives you the opportunity to ask all the questions you need to make an informed decision about breast surgery.

Below are the most common questions that people like to ask at their breast surgery consultations, so if you are booked in for one soon, or are planning on booking in, make a note of this page as reference;

  • What type of breast surgery or procedure is right for me?
  • Is breast enhancement safe? What are the risks?
  • How do I prepare for my breast surgery?
  • What kind of implants will you use for my breast enlargement?
  • How long does it take to perform / recover from breast surgery?
  • How long will my new breasts last?
  • Can I still breastfeed safely with a breast enhancement?
  • Will I lose sensation in my breasts or nipples?
  • Do implants affect mammograms / detecting breast cancer?
  • Are breast enlargements painful?
  • Are you (the surgeon) fully qualified and accredited?
  • What does your aftercare include?

It is only natural at this initial stage for women to feel nervous, even anxious about the process, the surgery itself, the aftercare and more. Many will have a hundred and one more questions than the above, and that’s totally fine. We want you to feel at ease, in good hands, and safe in the knowledge that this is completely normal and very common when choosing to have breast surgery.

Our patients

The main initial enquiry is mainly to do with price, as people understandably want to know if they can afford it before taking the next step to a consultation, even if it is free of any charges.

Here at Red Rose Desire, we want our pricing structure to not only be easy, but transparent too. Even though there is no one size fits all breast surgery, we offer a set one-time payment of £5200.00. This price is the final price too, no extras, no ad-ons, no hidden charges before or afterwards. The price is fixed and includes all of your appointments, pre-checks, the procedure itself (regardless of the size of your implant) full aftercare and post-surgery checks.

Our aftercare is also not just for the post-surgery checks either, like many others. We offer an incredible aftercare package, which is valid for life. Allowing you to be safe in the knowledge that at absolutely any time after your breast surgery, days, months, even years later, you can always get in touch with us.

If you feel ready, and maybe even a little excited to get your breast surgery journey started, you can book your free consultation with one of our surgeons now. Contact us via telephone, by email, or through our website.

When breast reduction surgery can help…

When breast reduction surgery can help…

Can breast surgery for cosmetic purposes be lifesaving, life changing, neither or both?

Some suggest that only medical surgeries can be life-saving, whilst cosmetic surgery can only ‘sometimes’ be life changing.  Others argue that cosmetic surgery is purely for aesthetic purposes and can never be either of the above.

Let’s discuss…

Whilst it’s definitely true that medical surgeries are lifesaving when you think of heart surgeries, removal of cancerous tumours or any emergencies that need fast immediate surgical intervention like head traumas, respiratory problems, ruptured appendix and so on, we wholly believe that, albeit a non-emergency procedure, cosmetic surgery can indeed save lives in the long run too.

Looking specifically at breast reduction surgery in this instance, this is a cosmetic surgery regularly done for medical reasons, one often prescribed on the NHS too.

But why?

If you suffer with large breasts, you will know all too well how cumbersome, uncomfortable and laden down you can feel whilst carrying around oversized boobs.

Let’s look at how big, bulky breasts can have adverse effects on our bodies, affecting us physically;

  • The weight – it seems obvious, but transporting around big sacks of fatty tissue, muscle, ducts, blood vessels, lymph nodes, lobes, lobules, and ligaments can be tough; especially if they are too big for our frames. If a person is small, and their breasts are large and out of proportion, they’re going to be extremely heavy to haul around.
  • Sore back, neck and shoulders – large breasts can affect the muscles that are trying to carry them, which could contribute to much pain and tension in those areas.
  • Misaligned / bad posture – Having sore neck, back and shoulders, or having to sit / stand in particular ways to support your heavy boobs, can cause slouching and poor posture which can lead to spinal dysfunction, joint degeneration, rounded shoulders and more.
  • Rashes, chafing or infection – folds in or under large breasts can often succumb to chafing or rubbing, and because they’re hard to reach or access areas they can be harder to keep clean, and thus infections can form.
  • Bra strap marks and sores – often, even if you are wearing the correct sized bra, the bra straps can cut into your shoulders if the weight they’re bearing is too heavy. This can cause pain, infection and prevent one from wearing a bra, which would lead to other pain issues.

If we are to look at just the above examples of how having breasts that are too big for our bodies to carry, can affect us so much physically, one can certainly see how, medically, a breast reduction would be the best way forward. To help alleviate and lessen the pain caused by carrying breasts that are too large / heavy, is no doubt life changing in this case?

woman wearing brown long-sleeved shirt on green grass fieldBut what if someone is suffering with not only pain and agony physically, but mentally too? What effects can overweight, and oversized breasts have on a person psychologically?

  • Unwanted looks or comments – we speak to many women who are looking for breast reduction surgery, for the main reason of removing the unwanted attention their large boobs bring to their life. Be it professionally or personally, all women can say that they have had people look at their boobs in their lifetime. Nearly all those with large boobs will report that they get remarks, looks, comments (positive and negative), daily. Being constantly known for your breasts instead of yourself as a person, people looking at your chest instead of your face, can adversely affect your self-esteem.
  • Constant need for a bra and underwire – many women rejoice as they enter their house after a long day, as they look forward to whipping off their bra. When they go on holiday, they like to sunbath in an unwired bikini (or topless if possible), when they’re having sex they might take it off for their partner seductively, when they sleep or relax they get ‘comfy’ and remove it. This isn’t the case for most large breasted ladies. In the words of Sali Hughes in a fabulous Vogue article about her own breast reduction, “To go braless was to feel horribly uncomfortable, chafed, insecure, indecent, so weighed down that every task was immediately more difficult.” For bigger breasted women, the bra is necessary, the underwire is very much needed, almost all of the time.
  • Forced fashion – although these days there are more brands that accommodate larger breasted people, these can often be catering for larger ladies in general too, meaning if it fits the boobs, it can be huge on the torso, and if it fits the waist, it can be far too tight for the breasts. Bikinis and bras are similar, if they’re large in cup, they’re large around the chest size. This means that it’s extremely hard to find clothes / underwear that you like, or that make you feel like you in them. You end up wearing clothes that are comfortable rather than sexy, catered for your breasts rather than your personality. How are you supposed to feel confident and self-assured if you can’t find clothes that suit your style or character?
  • Inability to exercise or compete in sports – sports bras, however good and strong they are, unfortunately just don’t do the trick with very large breasts. Running or doing any form of jumping, leaping, or competitive sports can be extremely painful on a person’s body, and actually cause the breast to sag more. Not being able to run properly, compete in sports or be part of a team, or to get fit solo can harmfully affect a person’s mind, body and soul. This can also lead to unwanted and unnecessary weight gain, which could cause further insecurities too.
  • Men / non binary people and breast reduction – for those who choose to be identified differently and thus have breasts that may not make them feel like themselves, or for males who have larger than average breasts (Gynaecomastia or male breast reduction), they can both receive negative looks, jokes and comments and feel extremely insecure and unlike the person they want to be, or feel like they are.

With just a few examples above, you can clearly see how having and dealing with large, oversized breasts can cause emotional distress, anxiety, and be detrimental to a person’s self-esteem, self-worth, and confidence.

Some may be able to handle the physical pain around large boobs, but others may severely struggle with psychological effects that can come with oversized breast issues. This is where breast reduction surgery can save a person.

woman grabbing her hair

We feel that giving someone the chance to feel more like themselves, to wear the clothes they choose, to express themselves how the wish, to be able to walk down a street with confidence and poise, play sports and work out, meet friends and colleagues and not feel self-conscious, not constantly have unwanted comments or stares, to be able to take off their bra if desired, to feel self-assured as the person they are and want to be.

This is the reason we do what we do, this is the reason we truly believe that breast reduction surgery cannot only be life changing, but lifesaving too!

If you suffer with oversized breasts that are getting you down, physically and mentally, if you’re a male or non-binary person who wants to reduce their breasts to make you feel more like the person you really are, if you yearn for getting your confidence back…come and see us for a free breast reduction consultation and we can talk over the options for you as an individual.
