Individual tailored results are important to each patient we see, and to our team. We believe that you are unique and that each body is different, meaning results vary.
Your complimentary consultations are always carried out with our specialist surgeons, that way you can be sure that you get a good idea of what can be achieved, and how this compares to your expectations. Our surgeons have a duty of care and will always be honest and open with the results you can expect to achieve.
They will also discuss a number of other areas when it comes to being a suitable candidate for tummy tuck surgery.
1. Have you lost a significant amount of weight?
Losing weight is a wonderful achievement, however, often we are left with stubborn areas of fat which cannot be moved, no matter how much exercise you do. Quite often, there will also be lose skin left around your abdomen. This makes you a good candidate for tummy tuck surgery, as the procedure helps to remove loose skin and tighten and tone.
It is important to note however, that tummy tuck surgery is not a weight loss solution and your surgeon will discuss your weight loss plans for the future. It is advisable to only look for surgery once you have reached your goal weight and when you are happy that you do not need to lose any more.
To maintain the results of your tummy tuck, consider a healthy diet and a regular exercise routine. If you are committed to a healthy lifestyle, you are likely an excellent candidate for this procedure.
2. You have overall good health.
Although a tummy tuck is a low risk procedure, we do undergo a number of health checks to ensure you are in good health and have no underlaying health issues which may be effected by anaesthesia.
We will always discuss your health in great detail during your consultation and your surgeon will ask to see any previous notes from your GP where necessary.
3. Have you had a baby, or do you plan on having a baby.
Often following pregnancy, the abdominal skin and muscles are permanently damaged. We have seen several ladies who have reached a healthy weight following pregnancy, however, still struggle with loosely hanging tissue and skin around their tummy. A tummy tuck can repair these tissues, however, you should wait for surgery, if you plan on having more children, as future pregnancies can separate the muscles and re-stretch the skin further.
It is important to note that tummy tuck surgery will not carry any danger to any unexpected pregnancies, or the health of your baby.

Pregnancy is an exciting and life-changing time in your life, a new baby is magical, and life will never quite be the same.
We get a high proportion of enquiries from mothers, mainly those looking to regain their body after having one or more babies.
One of the reasons we see ladies who have had a baby, is the impact pregnancy has on your body, particularly the stomach and lower abdomen area. Growing a life in such a small space, naturally will result in expanding stretch and lower sagging and in some cases stretch marks too.
This effects ladies of all shape and size, with all different skin texture and it is very difficult to stop, and often they find that diet and exercise alone are simply not going to get rid of the excess skin, or sagging pouch that is left.
A tummy tuck can help, it is designed to tighten the ab muscles and remove excess skin and stretch marks. The specialist surgeon will also look to contour and shape your stomach, resulting in a tighter, more even appearance. The scar from tummy tuck surgery is often made along the same line as your caesarean scar, so there is only one, low scar. This scar is easily hidden by your underwear and or bikini/bathing suit.
We ask that you wait some time before booking in for tummy tuck surgery, following the birth of your baby, to allow your body time to heal and for the skin which will have torn and stretched to relax and if you are breast feeding, even longer than that. We suggest around 6 months after you stop feeding. It is important to note that you will need time and help following your surgery, and lifting your new baby puts strain on your tummy muscles and can cause issues with recovery.
It is also advised that you establish a good routine with your baby, taking the time to bond and feed, without the pressure or pain of surgery recovery. Movement and pre pregnancy weight is an advantage, to aid in strength and good recovery.

It is true to say that a women’s body can be found in all shapes and sizes, and what works for one, might not work for another. It is also true to say that most people have different areas of their body that they like and some that they dislike.
Tummy’s are a hot topic in our office, as we often speak with patients who have worked so hard on weight loss, but struggle to move or remove stubborn areas around their middle. This could be an overhang of stretched skin and fat, or stretch marks or post pregnancy sag.
Often our patients feel frustrated and fed up with their stomach, and are looking for a transformation or lasting improvement to help them sculpt and shape this last bit. This is where a tummy tuck can help, with or without liposuction.
If you are currently on or have been on a weight loss journey, well done to you.
If like many you are struggling with low hanging excess skin, a tummy tuck will transform your midriff to enhance your muscles and waistline.
Opting for a
tummy tuck, your doctor will remove and cut out excess skin while also tightening abdominal muscles. Naturally, this will not give you six-pack abs, but it will make it easier for you to build abdominal muscles on your own through exercise in the future.
It is important to understand that this is not a weight loss treatment, but rather a way of repairing, tightening and sculpting abdominal muscles, and giving you back your waist. We know that the best candidates for surgery are patients near too their ideal weight, and so it is advisable to lose the extra weight before opting for tummy surgery.
Whether your overhang is caused by pregnancy, significant weight loss, or genetics, removing excess skin and tightening lax muscles can provide both physical and mental benefits.
While tummy tucks cannot guarantee the removal of stretch marks, it can often help; since the abdominal skin is pulled down, and some removed, any stretch marks can be lowered, or potentially removed if they are part of the lower excess skin.
Expect more than physical benefits following surgery. Of course, you will need time to heal and recover and even a lifting hand those first few weeks – however, expect a more confident and happy you, as you choose new clothes to fit your new shape and you enjoy a stronger and leaner core.
