Asking the right questions prepares you for your procedure, and allows you to get the best from your surgery and your surgeon. It is always a good idea when in research stage to arm yourself with a list of questions covering topics you do not understand or need to know more about.
We advise patients to write these down, that way when you meet with your surgeon during your consultation; you are ready and are less likely to forget.
Your surgeon will always give you the most accurate, medical explanation, which is important when deciding which procedure is best for you. Whether it is
breast enlargement surgery,
breast reduction surgery or
breast re-augmentation, we are here to answer any thoughts, or queries you might have to allow you to feel fully prepared and safe in the knowledge that your breast specialist
surgeon team has recommended the right procedure to fit your surgery goals.
We know how important it is that you fully understand what the procedure involves, the benefits and risks, the aftercare included and the results. We pride ourselves in getting to know you so that your results are unique to you.
The three most popular questions are:
How do I choose which implants are best for me?
Working alongside your surgeon, you can discuss and agree the best plan for you. We offer a number of different kinds of
breast implants options, each offering different profiles, shape and size.
Your surgeon is responsible for highlighting the features of the implants on offer and matching the perfect one for you.
How long do breast implants last?
Although breast implants are not designed to last forever, they can last quite a number of years. Guidelines suggest that breast implants should be removed and replaced after around 10 years, if nothing else in the body has changed. These guidelines vary from supplier to supplier.
Naturally as bodies change, many women opt for re-augmentation surgery before 10 years, and others want to make size or shape changes too.
Who decides on the size of implant?
Each breast procedure is tailored, and not one will be the same as another.
It is important to understand that your body type, your height and your weight are factors, which will affect which size is most suitable for you.
Ultimately, your desired breast shape and expected size is an important factor and will allow your surgeon to understand your desires, matching the right implant to you.
We want you to feel in control, and will allow you to work with the surgeon to create a plan and a look that is perfect for you.
Other question worth asking:

One thing we get asked a lot at Red Rose Desire is why your initial consultation is necessary.
Our Patient Coordinator Georgina explains how not all consultations are created equal and why it is crucial for you to attend at least one.
Free Cosmetic Surgery Consultation.
When you have your first consultation, it is natural to have a lot of questions. Our consultations are designed to give you the answers you need.
“That first meeting with a patient during their first consultation is the first step on their transformation journey, the time spent is so important, and extremely thorough!” says Georgina, “Nobody ever leaves a consultation here disappointed – and they always feel like they’ve benefitted by meeting the surgeon, and discussing the procedure and most importantly the results that can be achieved. The fact is, even if others are offering consultations, our consultations are better – because you just don’t get the same time elsewhere.”
We always book out 30 minutes for an initial consultation.
This includes time with our specialist surgeons, and time with one of our patient coordinators. Come and meet the team.
Georgina says: “ When we first meet with you, we want to understand your goals and feelings. Our aim is to tailor this journey just for you, and to discuss your expectations. First, you can meet with your chosen surgeon, on a one to one basis to discuss the procedure, shape and size. This first meeting allows you to bond and get to know your surgeon”.
“We will take measurements, talk size and desired results and look (if applicable) at implant brands, sizes and shapes. The surgeon can answer any questions or concerns you might have and will chat with the patient about all of the options,” Georgina advises.
“Following the time with the surgeon, you are then able to discuss costs, payment options, finance, and aftercare with me. I’ll provide information about the sequence of appointments required and what to expect throughout the treatment.” Georgina can offer first-hand advice about this, and can also share many other patient stories and before and after images with you, which can often help to give you a better understanding of what can be achieved. “I’ve had surgery myself, so I’m a great person to answer questions you might have” Georgina assures.
This means that during that initial consultation, you will leave feeling we have helped you make a decision about what you’d like to go ahead with. What’s more, we always welcome our clients back for a second consultation if this is needed, “there is no limit, we know this is a bid decision and we are here for you” advises Georgina.
Naturally after you’ve left us and thought more about what treatment you’d like to have, more questions arrive. There are also occasions where you have had a check-up with your GP before commencing treatment and we need to review that. Either way, this second appointment gives us all a chance to review your treatment plan before we start.
We often welcome patients who would like to bring in someone with them to their next appointment – as a second pair of eyes or ears – or simply a list of questions about what we discussed last time.
This initial time ensures that you won’t find any hidden costs along the way – and you have all the information you need to make an informed choice about your treatment before you begin your surgery journey.
