The Best Swimwear after Breast Surgery.

The Best Swimwear after Breast Surgery.

Your time to feel body confident.

As the warm weather approaches, and we keep getting those glorious sunshine days, our thoughts rapidly turn to holidays, BBQ’s and summer time.

Choosing swimwear can be a stressful time, especially if you have recently had breast implants, breast enlargement surgery or a breast uplift. You’re a different shape and size since the last time you looked for swimwear and are probably unsure of how to find a suit that makes you feel most confident, or fits your new breast shape.

Here we speak with Rhian Williams, a Red Rose Desire patient who had breast enlargement surgery on the 19th December 2018.
She shares her love of underwear, and recommends the best places to find swimsuits for larger breasts.

Hi Rhian, thank you for joining us today, you look stunning.
Can you tell us more about your surgery, and what impact your surgery has had on your body confidence?

I’m absolutely in love with my new boobs. So many people have complimented me! They look so natural which is what I wanted! I talked through my options with the surgeon and we agreed on 450cc implants under the muscle, they fit my frame perfectly.
My healing time wasn’t too bad, and I cannot fault anything about my surgery and after care.

I now have a lot more confidence in myself, and I feel more womanly.

Choosing Swimwear After Implants

Do you have plans to go away for the summer?

YES! I have booked to go away, and I can’t wait. I am going away in July for 2 weeks to Tenerife.

Can you offer any advice on the best places to shop for gorgeous swimwear/beachwear – for ladies with larger boobs?

I love halter neck tops as they offer me more support, but still with a feminine style. I also always try to choose tops that fastens with clips rather than just tie, and with thicker straps, which is also great for the extra support.
I have to say Ann summers have some beautiful bikinis, which fit really well, and I also definitely recommend H&M and also Primark.

What is your best swimwear buying tip?

Don’t stress! choosing swimwear is very much like buying underwear, and often the same shops you buy gorgeous bra’s from, also sell bikinis too, in similar styles and shapes you already know and love.  Stay clear of string or flimsy bra’s, they won’t offer you enough definition or support. Knowing which type of bra you like the most can help you narrow down which swimwear to choose.

Thank you to Rhian for taking time out to speak with us, we are thrilled to see you looking so happy and we wish you lots of years of body confidence! Look out for more Q&A sessions with our patients in the future, and feel free to contact us, if you would like to feature.

Liposuction for Men.

Liposuction for Men.

Increase in Number of Males Opting For Liposuction.

Even if you have a closely followed combination of a balanced healthy diet and regular exercise to keep in shape, you can still suffer with areas of stubborn pockets of fat that can be difficult to move or tone.

Liposuction is an increasingly popular cosmetic surgery procedure as it permanently removes excess fat cells from the body. It is a widely used surgical procedure and is considered a safe and reliable choice for permanent fat removal. Liposuction surgery is becoming increasingly popular amongst men to target the problem areas that are proving difficult to correct through diet and exercise, along with the variety of contouring techniques available to provide patient specific results.

Liposuction surgery can be performed on most areas of the body, for men it is most commonly performed on the; chin and neck, chest, upper arms, stomach, outer and inner thigh, buttocks and knees. We want you to ensure, if considering liposuction surgery, that you opt for a practice that has qualified and experienced Surgeons who will offer you a result, tailored to you.  Red Rose Desire offer carefully selected NHS registered surgeons, who specialise in these procedures.

Liposuction For Men

How Does Liposuction Work?

Liposuction surgery breaks down and removes excess fat from common problem areas of the body.
Performed under general anaesthetic, a very small incision (or incisions) are made into the skin and by inserting a hollow tube (cannula), the fat is loosened and broken down. A syringe is then used to suck out the fat removing it from the body, and this technique is important for your size and shape.

The points of incision will then be stitched closed; as the incisions are small there should be little or no visible scaring. By targeting these problem areas your surgeon can remove unwanted excess fat cells, enhance your body’s natural shape, refine body contour and create a balanced and well-proportioned, firmer look. This is always pre-agreed in line with your desires and expectations.

What Can I Expect To Lose?

Although not a “quick fix” solution to weight loss; surgery alone will not reduce how much you weigh, if your skin has good elasticity, you are already at or near your ideal weight, in good health and taking regular exercise but still finding it hard to remove unwanted fat from the problem areas mentioned earlier, then you may find liposuction is a great option for you.

Performing male liposuction can be a little more difficult than female liposuction as male fat is denser in texture and more adherent to the muscle layer. Because it is more resistant male fat can be harder to extract and may not suction out as softly or smoothly as female fat; it is possible that less fat is removed because of this. Your surgeon will discuss this in great detail and of course work through your options, during a complimentary consultation.  You can book a complimentary consultation here.

What Happens After Surgery?

Initially after surgery, you may notice some discomfort and it is common to experience some swelling and bruising, but this will steadily disappear over a period of around one month.
As the swelling and inflammation eases some lumpiness and deep bruising may still be visible; in some cases, it may take six to twelve months for the swelling to completely settle and the full effect of the liposuction can be seen. Your surgeon may advise you wear a compression bandage; this will help maintain pressure to the area, stop any bleeding, supress swelling and helps keep the new body contours created during surgery. The compression bandage should be worn day and night for four to six weeks.

As a precaution from possible infection you might be prescribed Antibiotics and you will need to keep your wounds clean and protected as instructed by your surgeon.

Is Aftercare Included?

Postoperative aftercare is an important part of your recovery process and it is important that you treat your body well in this respite period. Recovery is usually quick and although not pain-free, the pain you experience should be manageable with over-the-counter pain-relief medications. Depending on the extent of your surgery, generally you should be able to return to work within a few days and within a couple of weeks you will be back up to your normal pace; more extensive surgery may take a slightly longer recovery time, this will be advised by your surgeon.

For all patients, it is important to avoid any overly strenuous activity for 10-12 weeks and that you start all activity post-surgery gently.

Your care and support team will be available in the days, weeks and months after surgery and a series of appointments will be made to monitor recovery and progress.

Do I have tubular breasts?

Do I have tubular breasts?

Breast Shapes and Tubular Breasts.

Tubular breast is an abnormality of the breast development that occurs during puberty, the breast tissue is inhibited by a constricting ring at the base of the breast. The growth restriction results in a lack of breast tissue and affects growth both horizontally and vertically, resulting in drooping, uneven and small breasts. Patients tend to have an unusually wide spacing between each breast and enlarged areolas (nipple area). Tubular breast is a condition that can occur in both men and women, one breast or both.

Are tubular breasts something to worry about?

Although tubular breast is not harmful for physical health, some people may feel unhappy with the shape and proportion of their breast, which can cause anxiety and stress.  As tubular breast is a condition that arises at puberty many patients have been aware of the condition for several years and possibly felt troubled or embarrassed and had difficulty finding bras, swimsuits and clothes to fit correctly. Correction of tubular breast can help build a patient’s confidence and self-esteem, so they feel more body confident, and comfortable in social surroundings or situations.  We see patients who have been unhappy for a long time, but have chosen to move forward with breast surgery to increase the size, shape and proportion of their breast.

How can breast surgery help?

With a specialised cosmetic surgical treatment, the appearance of tubular breast can be considerably improved and corrected to create a more natural looking and aesthetically pleasing breast shape.

Tubular Breasts

Tubular breast cosmetic surgery is quite unlike regular breast enlargement as the surgery looks to enhance the fullness and width of the breasts, along with the symmetry of both breasts, ultimately creating a more rounded fuller, even breast shape. As the surgery is so specialised, you will need to make sure that you are assessed and diagnosed by our specialised surgeons who are familiar with the condition and will be able to provide the correct augmentation required for tubular breast.  During a consultation with your surgeon, a detailed examination and discussion to find the best treatment for each individual case will take place before surgery is scheduled.

It is possible that you may need a series of surgical procedures to fully correct the shape of your tubular breast. The techniques used will vary for each patient depending on the severity of the correction required. Your initial surgery will be to release the restricted breast tissue; this will widen the base of the breast area. A breast implant will then be inserted to increase the rounded shape of the breast and stretch the skin into a more natural breast shape.

One of the possible effects of tubular breast is an enlarged domed shaped areola or nipple area. Following the breast implant placement, if the domed shape can not be flattened then a second surgical procedure may be recommended, an areola reduction procedure, to reduce the nipple area and enhance the breast shape. Due to the complex and varied degrees of tubular breast, some patients may need to go on and have further breast lifting or fat contouring to give balanced fuller looking breasts.

What aftercare will be needed after surgery?

After any kind of breast surgery, there will be a rest and recovery period. You should expect to see swelling and bruising, and you will be prescribed painkillers to ease any post-surgery pain or discomfort; this pain should subside after a couple of days and the bruising after a couple of weeks. It is generally recommended that you wear a surgical bra for approximately six weeks after surgery to aid recovery and help keep your new body shape. You can get back to general movement after a couple of days, but you should refrain from strenuous activity and heavy lifting for at least six weeks. You can return to light work within a week if you feel able. It is important that you keep in touch with your aftercare team and return for bandage care and scheduled regular check-ups with your surgeon at the clinic.

Within two to three months you will be able to see the full benefits of the surgery with scaring, swelling and lumpiness receding.

Are you ready for breast surgery? Is it right for you?

Are you ready for breast surgery? Is it right for you?

Things to consider before moving forward with breast surgery…

It is true that like noses and legs, breasts grow to be all shapes and sizes, and often, not always aligned with the person’s natural body shape and frame, which can cause low self-esteem and confidence issues.
We see ladies who wish for a larger, fuller breast and opt for breast enlargement surgery. Others are looking to reduce size with breast reduction surgery and often ladies who are looking to re-shape or firm their breasts and look at beast uplift surgery.

Breast Surgery Options

Your surgeon at Red Rose Desire is there to guide you through the best surgery option for you and to understand your expectations too.  We know that whatever your reason for surgery, your body is different to others and surgery has to be tailored, and just right for you.  Our surgeons are skilled, experienced and always on hand.

A big decision…

Breast surgery is a serious procedure and should not be taken lightly. We always ask that you come along and spend time with the breast specialist surgeon to discuss the procedure, your desired shape and size and the aftercare. We also encourage lots of research and thought before proceeding.

It is a very personal decision, one which demands good preparation, so that you are sure you are doing it for the right reasons. We are here at any time to help you with this decision and are always on hand to answer any questions you might have, to make this decision easier.

The financial decision…

The financial aspect of surgery must also be taken just as seriously, so that you are always aware of the costs associated with your procedure. There are a number of payment options available, and breast surgery can be more affordable than you might think. We always offer one cost, with no hidden extras, that way there is full transparency when looking at your affordability.

Whether you take advantage of our 0% finance we can offer, or you choose to pay for it upfront; we can work through the best options for you.

Size and shape decision

You may already have a good idea about what size or shape you would like to see your end result, but this differs from patient to patient, dependent upon chest and frame size to skin elasticity. It is always important to discuss your thoughts and desires with the surgeons to agree on the best fit for you.
Breast implants are available in different sizes and shapes and by working with your surgeon, they can offer you a tailored look and feel.
After all, that is what your consultation is for; answering questions and arming you with all the information, so that you are able to make the best decision for you and your needs.

Recovery decision

Naturally after any procedure your body will need time to heal and so we would always advise you to take this into account before going ahead.
You will need at least 7-14 days to recover, however this varies from patient to patient, this is longer should you opt for breast uplift surgery or breast reduction surgery.

Take into consideration your job or lifestyle pace, if you have a more active or demanding job, make sure you can take time off to heal and can also get the help at home you might need in the early days, especially if you have family or jobs outside of work, and in the home.  Our aftercare is full and always included.
Post cosmetic surgery nutrition is also key during your recovery, and can make all the difference to the speed and success of your end result.

We have a full aftercare team in place to advise you, and arm you with all the right information about what you can and can’t do, and things to consider.
